My name is Lesia. Although I have a B.A. degree in Art from the University of South Florida, I stopped making “art” when I became a Youth Services Librarian (M.A. in Library and Information Sciences). Once I started teaching English Composition in college, I stopped making all types of art…until 2014.
That was a crazy year. I was diagnosed with Stage 3a breast cancer. As I struggled with chemo, I rediscovered creating art. By this time, mixed media art was rocking the art world. I jumped in. I’ve been creating art ever since.
Since then, I returned to teaching and am practicing my video editing skills with short videos uploaded onto my YouTube.com account where I highlight tips, tricks, and super-cool techniques I’ve learned.
I take a number of online classes from some of the superstars in the industry. Every now and again, I’m able to schedule an in-person workshop. This is remarkable since I live in the Greater Atlanta area and cannot locate workshops close to me.
My blog is an outlet as I continue my cancer treatment plan and for sharing my work and process.
New this year (2021): I took a chance. I applied for a Design Team and am so excited to share that I am one of the newest members for the 2022 Gecko Galz Design Team! (http://geckogalzscrapbooking.blogspot.com/) Look for my art on the 18th of each month, beginning in December 2021.
Thank you for reading and joining me on my journey.
