The Gecko Galz theme for March is Birds and Bees. I decided to focus on the Birds. I love watching all of the colorful hats British women wear, and I thought bird hats would be a great idea. I’m also a huge fan of They Might be Giants’ song “Birdhouse in Your Soul.” Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhjSzjoU7OQ. These women were originally intended to be paper dolls; however, it didn’t look quite right. I decided to make the Mardi Gras Paper Dolls instead, see blog. For this project I created oversized winged women who carry birds on their heads. Why? Why not!
I printed each element out and then collaged the pieces onto double-sided scrapbook paper. Eventually, I plan to bind the 6×12 paper together.
The ladies are from the Gecko Galz sets Ladies in Green and Ladies in Yellow:

Once I fussy cut out the images, I arranged them and adhered them with a glue stick. After they were assembled, I selected the scrapbook paper to affix them onto. As you can see, two of the women’s heads extend off the page. I like this feature.
