Love songs are aplenty for Valentine’s Day. And they come in all sorts of flavors: silly, romantic, serious, anti-Valentine, along with all manner of genre. The Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Facebook group is hosting a “Song Challenge.” I’m submitting some, which you will need to become a member of the FB group to see (membership is FREE); however, I wanted to share two that are not being submitted. I wanted to share these adorable–and easy to create–Song Challenge Valentine’s Day cards.
Each card has at least one image from the digital collection for sale on the Gecko Galz Etsy site, https://www.etsy.com/shop/geckogalz?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=658464908. I’ve used one image from a $10 digital kit set, an image from a $1 set, and another from the 2022 Kit Club, a year-long program where you receive a set of incredible, and unique, images, papers, and/or digital stamps at a reduced price.
The rules for the challenge are simple:
- Select a love song and create something with at least one Gecko Galz image. The image can be from a FREE set or from one purchased through Etsy.
- Place a few lyrics as clues on the card. Include the song title just in case it isn’t obvious. (I’ve placed my song titles on the back. I wanted you to at least try and guess.)
- Submit the creation to the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/654948344560159/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&multi_permalinks=4763801073674845, by February 28th.

The first card is a typical Valentine’s Day card. I took scrap green paper, added a piece of decorative black/cream/pink paper and a piece of book paper cut with a circle die cut, and glued the image I created digitally. The image of the man and woman are from the February 2022 Kit Club, Vintage Love (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1089833744/2022-kit-club?click_key=198e2590a1fe848c9ca33313c434897966e37eb5%3A1089833744&click_sum=384212fc&ga_search_query=2022&ref=shop_items_search_1&pro=1), placed onto of another digital page from another site. I overlaid roses and added the text “But the secret is still my own. And my love for you is still unknown. Alone”
Here’s a video clue: It’s from the 80s. Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cw1ng75KP0.
The second card is more of an anti-Valentine card. I love this artist and wanted to create something with one of his songs. The image is from Rodeo Galz, https://www.etsy.com/listing/1012794078/rodeo-galz-craft-kit?click_key=03fd7c1f328a7e7278c85a07121cea3e03c90613%3A1012794078&click_sum=dc85b6b5&ga_search_query=rodeo%2Bgalz&ref=shop_items_search_1&pro=1. I created this card by taking a piece of blue cardstock that had a rectangle cut out. I used another Gecko Galz image from Vintage Labels, https://www.etsy.com/listing/122708781/vintage-labels-digital-collage-set?click_key=0f62e86e3f6b3b69cbe120710a56635f401edfbd%3A122708781&click_sum=e65e38f4&ga_search_query=vintage%2Blabels&ref=shop_items_search_1&pro=1, and fussy cut it out. I took a scrap piece of scrapbook paper to create a ribbon. I then affixed a piece of a map. I added the text: “Six summers down, another dreamless night you’re not by my side.”
Here’s a clue: He likes to wear handmade masks when out in public. Watch the official video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3esGD6lcMM.
Both were incredibly easy and fun to make. I’ve got at least 2 more I’m submitting to the FB challenge. Hope to see you in the group!
