Pre Raphaelite Junk Journal

The junk journal is standing behind the stuffed pocket and quad pocket holder.

I love creating junk journals. There are so many different types to create, that I can get lost in constructing. The challenge for me is to locate a collection of images to use. That is why I really like this junk journal kit from Gecko Galz. And the price is incredible!

This is a large project. I admit; I got a tad carried away. This is an over-stuffed small journal with 2 signatures. I used a Crafter’s Companion die to cut out the cover and pages. I also used Anna Griffith die cuts from her journal kit and a Tim Holtz pocket die. I created the pockets from scraps. Add the signatures. Set 2 eyelets, one on the front cover and one on the backside. This journal is too full for me to close with ribbon; however, you can.

Supplies included double-sided scrapbook paper; eyelets; Crop-A-Dile eyelet setter; brads; small envelopes; staples and stapler; wet and dry glue; tag dies; journal dies; book paper; ruled college paper; bone folder; cord; and Gecko Galz images, links below.

Die cut out the paper for the small journal. Cut out various shapes using the leftover scraps.

For the flip-out envelopes: Cut the 2 small envelopes to size. Diagonally cut the envelope to make a tuck spot. Glue the flap to a journal page. Cover with scrap paper. Score the top and fold. Cut book paper down to fit. Select an image and glue to the last page, the cardstock. Staple the pages at the top to create a little notebook.

Pockets: Cut scrapbook paper to fit the page, adding 1 ½ inches for the pocket. Score the bottom and fold. Adhere wet glue to the sides. Here, I sewed the pockets prior to gluing into the journal.
